Made By You...
This dress has to be one of my favourite things I have ever made. It is one of the first times I’ve put on a me made item and though wow, I did that!! Although I planned to make it for a wedding I’ve already had so much wear from it dressed down with trainers, it’s quickly becoming a firm favourite in my wardrobe. I chose our beautiful Midnight Garden Fabric in navy for the project and I’m so glad I did because it has such a lovely drape and is really comfortable to wear. The pattern is the Dusky Rose dress by @madelabel_ This was my first time using one of their patterns and I was really impressed with their simple to follow video tutorials.

One of the best things about it was the video they released along side the pattern, I’m such a visual learner, it was so good to watch as I went along. I’m looking forward to next summer so I can wear it out and about ☀️ Fabric is from @spotlightstores #madelabel #memade #memadewardrobe #summersewing #spotlightstores #adelaidesewists #sewadelaide

The binding was rather tricky to finish well, the French seams were a first and gathering; I'm not great at gathering (however this is only my second time 😁) The fabric has a vintage feel and works really well this this style of dress. I adore the details on the dress, the ruffle sleeves, the front tie and the rise and fall hem. I expected to wear it today but plans got cancelled so I may wear it on my next food shop 😂 The video tutorial was great, something I hadn't used before but I would have liked a paper version too for reference . Also I found the skirt section was skimmed over a bit more than the top. I put on the waist incorrectly and I knew this before I did it. Unfortunately however many times I watched it back I couldn't work out how NOT to do it the wrong way! The same label do a beautiful Frankie wrap skirt, the pattern is free so check it out! I have one on my make list. Pattern #duskyrosedress by @madelabel_ Fabric Viscose challis from @rainbowfabrickilburn

The print I loooove... but it’s from the unfortunately now-defunct @fridaylovefabrics so no more for me 😕 I have to say that the line drawings would give a better view of the features of the dress... my photos were taken in 4 minutes with two children running around 😆 I don’t usually wear full length so it’s taken a lot of getting used to but lots of swishing has been accomplished ☺️
